This session was wayyyy more windy and colder than we had expected! But I’ll be honest, I lOVE the wind in photos. It creates such drama and beauty. Morgan had contacted me for a Family Session a few weeks ago. She was well prepared of what she was wearing and coordinated the families outfits to the T. BUT little did she know that the dress she ordered would not fit properly and that the babies clothes would make her very cold. Client Closet to the rescue!! I had brought some extra dresses and some clothes for baby girl. So in the nick of time, we changed the plans and came up with THIS!! This family drove out to the suburbs of Philadelphia to take beautiful images of their sweet family and that is exactly what they got! One of my FAVORITE family sessions by far!!

Three Reasons to Book Newborn Sessions in a Studio| Philadelphia Newborn Photographer
Ashley contacted me to book her newborn session and I was thrilled!! I just bought some wonderful wood backdrops and some new props that I wanted to test out. I just started offering Newborn In-Home Studio sessions this year. I am located in Phoenixville, Pa., about 35 min from the city of Philadelphia. This doesn’t mean I don’t have experience with newborns. Actually, I have been doing newborn sessions in the past 4 years. But they were done in my clients homes. I still do sessions in my clients home, but only when it is requested. I have found that it is beneficial to have a space available for my clients. Below I will discuss why its a great idea to offer In-Home Studio Sessions to your clients and how it can be advantageous for the clients too.
There are many benefits of having a session photographed at a studio setting vs having them at the clients home. In here, I will share a few benefits. This is not to say that In-Home sessions are inferior. They can also create beautiful photographs. This is just putting into perspective some things that we may not consider.
First, when the photographer has a room/space dedicated to newborn/sitter sessions, there are many variables that stay consistent. This consistency, helps to keep the work more reliable. For example, lighting is a key element which helps dictate what type of photo will be rendered in the end. Is it natural light or artificial? Are the photos rich, dark & moody or light & airy? The lighting helps to create the mood of the photos.
Another great benefit is access to all of the props. Newborn photographers have lots of props…I mean lots. We have to be able to offer various colors, textures and styles for our clients. So we continue to purchase items (according to our styles of course) to help create “the look” we are going for. So when the photographer is in the studio, she can easily grab whichever color wrap, or headpiece that looks appealing. Photographers are artists. So being visual animals, we see magic through the lense. And sometimes what we thought, doesn’t always look as beautiful when put together. We need to play around with the colors and textures. So having the props close by, helps our vision come to life.
Last but not the least, the photographer gets to build a relationship with the clients when they come to the studio. When I open my home to my clients, I get to interact with them at a different level. Its like they are my guests and I always treat my guests with a warm welcome.
With all these benefits, I would highly recommend my clients come to my studio for their newborn session. It provides a reliable product, access to many beautiful props and helps build a relationship. Since I began my newborn sessions , I have also had a chance to integrate the posed newborn sessions with some shots of the parents in lifestyle shots. This helps me stand out from other photographers because I offer a HYBRID version of both styles of photography. As I get my feet wet, learning the ins and outs of incorporating both types of photography styles, I thought I would offer my clients a discount to come see what I have to offer. There is a PROMOTION right now on my site for booking these sessions. So be sure to get into contact and book in advance so that when baby comes, you are ready to capture those precious moments.

You can not notice it, but this was one of the coldest days of my fall sessions! It was not only a sunset session, but also an overcast day. So although we were unable to get that sun setting( ahhh I love me some sunset lighting!!), I still believe this families photos turned out STUNNING! The mother did an extremely great job in coordinating the outfits of her precious daughters. I mean, look at them! They were not only beautiful but also the sweetest. That POP of red just made my day!
Lifestyle and Posed Newborn Photos in Bryn Mawr | Philadelphia Newborn Photographer|
I have started a new type of newborn photography service to cater my growing clients based around Philadelphia, Pa. Its called Hybrid Newborn Photography. Its basically a combination of cozy wrapped newborn baby photos with some candid shots of the entire family. I feel that this works especially well at most clients at-home sessions. This type of package allows for the new baby to be the star in all of its individual poses in various wraps, baskets, etc. While at the same time, I get to capture the true surroundings of where the baby will grow with the lifestyle part of the session.
I got to try this Hybrid version of newborn photography at my recent session with sweet returning clients based in Bryn Mawr. I have worked with this family in the past. I did their maternity session, as well as first newborn and one year old photos of their first born. I was pretty excited to meet them again.
Baby Mann did not disappoint:) He was the most calm and sleepy baby I have worked with. He was totally chill which in return made the whole atmosphere at ease. I got to photograph him in 2 different wraps, one outfit and various baskets/crates. The parents were totally relaxed and kept the newborns brother (who is 3 now) busy while I did the babies’ individual shots.
Upon completion of the newborn posed shots, I gathered the family in two rooms (one of which is the babies nursery) and took photos of them mesmerized at the beautiful blessings surrounding them. These family shots are super important. I remember taking photos of the first time my children got to meet their siblings. In the same way, Baby Manns older brother was super excited for this new addition. This lifestyle part allows me to capture the raw interactions.
This Hybrid Version of Newborn Photography is something I feel makes everyone feel at ease. It gives the newborn baby maximum attention with the individual shots as well as caters to those that want to remember how it actually was to hold that new baby around the house that they will grow up in.
Check out the newborn session below and if you are interested in this kind of setup, be sure to contact me here ! I would love to capture you and your new bundle as soon as possible!
