Top 5 Tips for Romantic Engagement Photography Photos in Valley Forge Park, Pennsylvania

Congrats you are getting Engaged! What a perfect time to book that Engagement Session! Whether it is a surprise engagement or you want to capture these images for yourselves to use for your upcoming save-the-date cards, be sure to read the 5 ways you can make your session the most romantic one!

Timing: Sunset

What can be more romantic then a sunset session? Sunsets evoke calm and romantic emotions between couples. The soft light during this time also creates hints of gold and warm tones which makes for excellent conditions for photography. I usually will start an hour or half an hour before the sunset (depending on length of the session)

Wardrobe: Dresses

Ladies: Long, flowy dresses are a great option for a romantic sessions. This style is usually very flattering to most body types. The fabric should be soft and longe to create movement. I recommend warm tone colors during a sunset session. I recommend dresses like @FreePeople @ Joyfolie, @ Balticborn

Gentlemen: A solid neutral color top (henley, shirt, polo, sweater) with khakis or jeans work well! Throwing on a sports coat can also look great (depending on weather)

I am also going to include putting on a little bit of makeup, trim nails/ nail polish and spending some extra few minutes on hair (men and women). The details play a huge role on the final images.

Location: Open Fields and Wildflowers

I am a sucker for open fields and wild flowers! In an open field, couples can feel free and connect with nature and earth. The beauty of the skies and green grassy fields make for a prefect backdrop for a couples session. It also allows for space to create gorgeous movement shots!

Poses: Intentional Posing

Although I am not a fan of posing, a subtle “intentional” posing is necessary to capture the bond between the couples. Many times, clients do not know how to stand, where to look and what to do in front of a camera. This is where my job comes into play. I gently guide them in various poses and throw out prompts to help them create images that look more “natural” than posed.

Attititude: Have Fun!

The most important advise I can give to most of my clients is to come to a session with no expectations! I know that sounds harsh but hear me out! Come to a session with the intention of having fun, let loose and enjoy. My job is to create images for each client that tells their story. That story can only be visually seen if the couples can Be THEMSELVES. So feeling relaxed and enjoying the process is what makes the session MAGICAL!
